You looked great
that tasteless afternoon
in your faded old cardigan
and ink stained trouser
that had ridden up your shins
crumpled just as the sheets we laid
Lazing as you stretched
you shone
and filled me with a tiny wish
A picture of you
I just wished to have
A picture of you
How I wished to steal that moment in time
When you were
breathing that stale air on my face, all mine
And you had turned your face away
To point
At a tiny glittery spot that hid
Where your cheeks slid to meet the chin
“Not today, not today
Not with this zit on my face
no way”
Thus shooed away that thought of
A picture of you
I just wished to have
A picture of you
How I wished to steal that moment in time
When you were
Breaking my heart, being vain, all mine
But you were gone
Before that zit on your face
As did the afternoon
Never to return
And when it does,
It always mocks that wish of
A picture of you
I just wished to have
A picture of you
How I wished to steal that moment in time
But you are gone away from me
Quietly, like you were never mine
this is beautiful.
